Technical Resource Center (TRC) Town Hall – Meet the Tax Experts

This Webinar will include going through the functions of the TRC, and then introduce several of our TRC Providers. These providers will introduce their expertise and the services they offer to TRC users. The providers will then answer live questions from participants in Town Hall format.

David Albrecht
Tax Controversy Specialist
Clark Schaefer Hackett

David Albrecht is a tax controversy specialist with over 20 years experience. He handles federal and state tax controversies, representing individual and business clients at various stages of their controversy.
Earlier in his career, David was recruited from a professional financial services firm to work in the Criminal Division of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The experience he gained and the relationships he built while at the IRS give him the insight and expertise to make him an effective full time tax controversy expert.
David works on 75-100 crisis-level controversy cases per year, the majority of which he settles out of court. He has saved clients hundreds of millions of dollars in assessments during his tenure and has successfully negotiated with the IRS on tens of millions of dollars in penalty abatements across all industries. David is a frequent speaker on tax controversy and IRS-related topics in the marketplace. He has presented for organizations including the New York State Society of CPAs. Internally, he brings his knowledge and expertise to CSH employee trainings on controversy topics.

Jordan Irvan         

Jordan provides tax consulting and return services for individual and business clients, reviews tax returns completed by department personnel, and trains new accounting staff. While her work spans multiple industries, her business emphasis has been on the construction industry. As a member of our Construction Services Team, she helps these clients with year-end tax planning and compliance, projections, and other decisions affecting their tax picture and bottom line.

Joe Nicola

Joe has more than 25 years of experience in public accounting. Joe has experience in many diverse areas of taxation, including the taxation of and planning for various forms of business entities, such as corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies. He also has considerable experience with individual income taxation. Joe is particularly experienced in federal and multistate tax matters that affect numerous industries, including natural resources, manufacturing, distribution, high technology, securities, and start-up businesses. He has consulted on technically complex matters, such as succession planning, corporate reorganizations, employee stock options, securities derivatives, partnership reorganizations and liquidations, and international tax matters.
 
While in public practice, Joe also served for many years as an adjunct member of the faculty at Duquesne University’s MBA and Master of Science in Accountancy programs, as well as with Robert Morris University’s Master of Science in Taxation program.  His course load included Corporate Taxation, Advanced Corporate Taxation, Reorganizations (Mergers and Acquisitions), Taxes as a Basis for Managerial Decisions, Taxation of Property Dispositions, and Taxation of Derivatives.  He is a published author of CPE/CLE texts and industry articles.  Joe now teaches Tax Levels 2, 3 and 4 for the AGN Advance Professional Development Program.
 
Joe’s background also includes significant experience in ERISA and employee benefits, as well as representation before the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor.  He also has significant litigation support experience, including civil litigation, family law practice, criminal tax defense, and pre-trial assistance (such as assistance in the discovery and deposition process).
 
Joe received his B.S. in Business Administration from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

 

Jonathan Ciccotelli
Vice President

For over 29 years, Jonathan Ciccotelli has worked closely with private and public companies in manufacturing, transportation, distribution, construction, and retail under a variety of business structures, including S-corporations, C-corporations, consolidated groups, and limited liability companies. 
In addition, he has extensive experience in preserving family wealth through the use of trusts and proactive estate planning. Jonathan works with clients in areas such as corporate acquisitions and divestitures, post-merger integration, tax planning for closely held businesses, business succession planning, and individual tax and retirement planning
