As we celebrate Black History Month and look back at the achievements of so many that have moved the human consciousness forward in the realm of diversity and inclusion, we will take this space to highlight some notable events in Black History from AGN North America’s founding year of 1978.
Jill Brown, flying for Texas International Airlines, became the first black female pilot for any commercial airline. Harriet Tubman became the first black woman to be honored on a US postage stamp. And, maybe most notably, Toni Morrison received the National Book Critics Award Song of Solomon. Morrison went on to become the first black woman to win the Nobel Prize in 1993.
AGN salutes these women and all those that broke boundaries to achieve their dreams!
